Melissa Lambourne

Melissa Lambourne is the founder and director of the Latin Dance Society and is the key driver behind the development of the society and it's programs. Melissa's interest in the Latin dances started in 2003 when she was introduced to salsa. Since that time she has been fortunate enough to experience dances such as that of Salsa, Bachata, Cha Cha, Merengue, Rueda De Casino, Waltz, Rumba, Quick Step, Jive, Samba and Belly Dancing.

Having worked in the beauty industry for many years, Melissa would frequently come across many women with whom she would discuss her interest and passion for the latin dances. Many clients expressed an interest but wanted to attend classes without their partners. This experience inspired the imagination and eventually gave birth to the idea of 'ladies only' Latin Dance Classes. Melissa set about putting together a structured syllabus designed to teach fundamental steps, basic rhythms, isolations, footwork and body styling suitable for women of all ages, weight and fitness levels.

In addition, she is a regular teacher and assistant in the running of Dance2Salsa. Having developed her expertise as a salsa and rueda teacher, Melissa now teaches at all levels through to advanced in salsa and teaches levels 1-4 in Rueda de Casino. She is currently preparing to take her Associate level qualification with the United Kingdom Alliance.

Some of Melissa's interests include Bo jitsu, Tai Chi, Aerobics, Mediation and Holistic Thereapies. Not one to constrain her interests, she has just gained a City & Guilds qualification in photography. She has run her own Health & Beauty Salon based in Wooburn Green for nearly 10 years and currently holds qualifications in CIBTAC, ITEC and RIPHH.
